I came across something very interesting which i feel we all need to have a look.

Here is a narrative from a person who traveled Israel and learnt something about honesty and truthfulness.

The first example he gave was of a Jewish man renting a room in the apartment of a Christian woman during the holocaust. The Nazis’ were going around from house to house looking for Jews to arrest and kill. Sometimes when a non-Jewish person opened the door it was enough for the Nazis’ to hear “there are no Jews here” in order for them to move on to the next house.

Sounds easy enough. The Jewish man and Christian woman were on very amiable terms. There’s no reason for her to become a conspiritor in his murder. Wrong. The woman said “I am an honest Christian, I have never lied in my life, and if the Nazis’ ask me if there are any Jews in my apartment, I will have to tell them about you.”

As you can imagine the Jewish tenent was very distraught upon hearing this from his landlord. It meant certain death for him. Thinking quickly on his feet he came up with a solution that would work for the both of them. He told the woman that since he was renting the room it was technically his, and if the Nazis’ were to ask, she could safely say that “there are no Jews in MY apartment.” And so she did, and the Jewish tenant was safe. This truthfulness, to being a good person, and not a conspirator in the Nazi murder went above and beyond honesty.

Another example that I heard from Rabbi Jonathan Shippel is of breaking the news to someone in bad health. Particularly telling an elderly sick person about a calamity that is occuring with someone near and dear to them. At one point Rabbi Shippel was faced with a situation where a doctor was to tell a 93 year old woman of her husband’s cancer. To make a long story short, she died two days after hearing the terrible news, while her husband lived for several more years in good health.

The doctor had basically killed this woman by communicating this information to her, against what the Rabbi had advised him to do. The doctor was just doing his job, and being honest, but he wasn’t being truthful to the greater cause, which is making sure people are living healthy.

When honesty fails to be on the same wavelength as truthfulness it must be abandoned. In this way, a lie will be the truth.

BCCI vs National Sports Development Bill & Govt. of India

After abysmal defeat in Jan Lokpal Bill movement, government is trying to take good measures. One example is National Sports Development Bill. The draft was discussed in cabinet meeting. It was opposed by Mr. Sharad Powar ICC president, Mr. Vilash Rao Deshmukh, Maharastra Cricket Association president, Mr. C. P. Joshi , Rajasthan Cricket Association, and some opposition party leaders Mr. Arun Jaitley, Delhi Cricket Association president. Lets look at some important aspects of the draft and intention why it is needed.

       VS

1. Maximum age 70 years and three terms of 4 years.

In all government bodies, there is retirement age. It is necessary to inject fresh blood in management and change perspective, thinking and style of running organisation according to need of time. It will remove those people who has hijacked sports organization for many decades and running these organization as family business. For example - Jagmohan Dalmiya ruled BCCI from 1979 to 2005. He was outed by powerful politician Mr. Sharad Powar of NCP.

2. All sports bodies should come under RTI.

Government is allocating funds and lands to build necessary infrastructure for the development of sports culture in country. Janta has every right to know about the expenditure related to sports bodies. It is people's money and they should know about it. RTI will be an indirect restriction on the excessive expenditure and favoritism in process employed.

BCCI along with others is crying that bill will take away their sovereignty. These sports bodies are running under some rules so you are not sovereign and are backed by government money and land. So you should be under public scrutiny. Mr. Sunil Gavaskar rightly said that if BCCI did not have anything to hide they should come under RTI.

3. Executive body should have 25% members who are former sports person of related field.

Players know need of players and game better than non-players. They can play very important role in development of the sports.

There are some other clauses in NSDB, but bone of contention are points mentioned above. BCCI is most powerful and cash rich sports body in country. It does not come under RTI act. We cannot access any information from it. Mr. Shashank Manohar, BCCI chief, rejected the proposed bill saying if we implement this bill ICC will ban BCCI. It is a well known fact that ICC needs BCCI more than BCCI needs ICC. So this claim is useless. Chief of cricket association are opposing because it will restrict their unprecedented power and de facto family business of corruption.

Participation of former players in running sports bodies is virtually zero.Politicians are heading organization just because of the power they get from money and political favoritism. National Sports Development Bill proposed by sports minister Mr. Ajay Maken is good sign of change. Time has come to end this era and start a fresh where there is more accountability and pragmatism.

I hope we don't need another hunger strike to force government and sports bodies to comply with NSDB.

Jan Andolan or Mobocracy

Today Parliament passed resolution on Lokpal bill. Team Anna and the nation have won half the battle against stubborn, ruthless and senseless politicians and government. Now stage is set for debate on Jan Lokpal bill. Nation is looking for fruitful outcomes of this debate.

From start of Jan Lokpal movement, Anna Hazare and his team managed it very well. They also got support from all walks of life. But there are some serious concerns also. Lets see some important concerns.

1. Former colleagues of Anna Hazare has questioned integrity and authoritarian nature in movement. They alleged that Mr. Hazare wanted control on everything. There were few people who took part in drafting bill and negotiations with governments. Some important people such as Mr. Vishwabandhu Gupta, Former IT commissioner Delhi, Swamy Agnivesh and Dr. Subramanian Swamy were ignored and even they were not allowed to participate in Jantar Mantar Fast.

2. Initially, Anna Hazare was fasting for his Jan Lokpal Bill to be tabled and passed in parliament in this session. It is not new in our country. There were many instances in past when someone started fast for some reason. For example, Andhra Pradesh was created after death of Mr. Potti Sreeramulu who was on fast for his demand of creation of telugu speaking state. It seems that fasting till death has become a way to force government to accept the demands you have. In democratic society this kind of behavior will ruin the basic foundation of it.

3. Former Lok Shabha speaker Mr. Somanath Chaterjee wrote that any jan andolan should not take responsibility of creating law in its hands. Jan Andolan should not become a mobocracy. Citizens should put their concerns in front of democratic institutions and let them discuss and come out with strong laws.

In questioning Anna Hazare's integrity and authoritarian nature is not a big deal. All most everyone has some kind of weaknesses. Baba Adhav , Dr. Saptarthi, and Dr. Abhijit Vaidya are former colleagues and they put a question mark on Anna. It may be true that Anna has some issues. but the question is cause vs individual. Fighting against corruption is national issue. His nature can be ignored for national cause.

In democratic society, if people's representatives are not providing solutions to problems, people have full right to come forward and fight for. Peaceful protest is democratic right of people. But forcing government to accept demands without representatives concern and dodge all democratic practices will set wrong examples for future generations. We should keep in mind long term effects of these activities also.

Democratic institutions and their processes should be maintained as well as peaceful protest should be allowed to put forward people's concern. Our vibrant democracy has shown both these aspects even there were some tough moments. Still there is need for many more public outcry to make society strong and error free. I hope our democracy will overcome all hurdles in future.

I will rise again.

Yesterday I suffered one more loss. It was big blow to my ego and mental setup, but i am not dejected. Some strange confidence and calmness inside my mind have come up. I feel that it is just a step that need more concentrated effort to pass; it can be done, errors can be rectified and control on mind during exam time can be achieved. I have achieved something that i did not get from many failures.

From 6th class to yesterday, I have seen many failures and successes. In start, there was high success percentage, but it came to a steep decline in last few years. I failed almost all big things i thought to achieve. Each failure brought its own share of frustration and darkness. I tried hard for the next attempt with increased self-doubt, low motivation, ignorance of mistakes and possible correction. It increased the failure rate and I went in almost irreparable damage. I did not have enough motivation to start once again or to look for other possible way which can provide me some success that i desperately needed.

Accidentally, I read some blog which mentioned the importance of failure and people who reached new heights in their career and made history after having utter failure in life. It was kind of encouragement that failure is not the end of road to success and that it is way to learn what is not needed and what is needed for success. Failure is an opportunity to correct and improve yourself.

It is difficult to correct yourself. I tried my best, still am not able to correct all my mistakes. It takes a lot of effort and commitment to unlearn what you have learned and practiced for more than 2 decades. When i started to correct some of my mistakes, I have doubt whether I can correct and improve. Few attempts to unlearn and follow new learning were futile. After working hard without looking at results, I got some success. This was the first realization that i failed not because i was not capable of getting success but because i followed wrong routes.

Now I know how things will work for me, how much effort i need to unlearn and learn new relevant practices, and how i should look at my goals and their possible routes. I have accepted one philosophy that the most important aspect of success is not success itself but the way you get it and adjust to new yourself during preparation. I hope I will rise again.

Useful Information

Today, I received a mail that has some useful content. As time progressed few more shows came and became instant hit. Many of them replicated current political scenarios to show their creativity in funny ways. I love these shows not only for logical and illogical jokes but also for great observations of Indian Political sphere. But, I think these comedian can never do the real comedy some politicians do in our day to day life. One of the best comedian of present times is a congressman, Digvijay Singh.

Let me come straight to the point. Digvijay Singh is really comedian. Just try to recall the absurd news paper headlines from past few months. Within few nano seconds, you will recall many and you will realize that most of them from same person Digvijay Singh. There are few I can show you.

1. "Rahul Gandhi is ready for PM post".

2. Hindu groups are responsible for Mumbai blasts.

3. Hemant Karkare, hero of Taj Hotel terrorist attack, was killed by Hindu Organizations.

4. Anna Hazare , Baba Ram Dev incident related statements.

I was shocked to know that he served as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and he is in active politics from 1977. A person of this history makes illogical and rubbish statements is somethings that i never understood completely.

But I am sure for one thing he has great quality of speaking nonsense even in utmost situations. I would like to confer him Doctorate degree in his honor. Please start calling him Dr. Digvijay Singh, PHD in Political Nonsense.

Thanks to Dr. Singh for great entertainment.

A thought worth considering

There is a tradition in our engineering education in our country that most of the people, who come to our campuses and give lecture on some random subjects that we consider useless, may be good or great, but they are not possibly good enough to give us some sensible knowledge that we need. It is feeling that is inculcated in students because of cultural environment prevailing in institutes. Contrary to this notion, I believe that there are very few people who come to give some GYAN to us and actually cannot.

Few days back, I was watching a video of lecture of Gurucharan Das in NIIT university campus. At the podium, there were few others including Dr. Karan Singh. Gurucharan Das talked about few things that i was not aware of. First, he said "There are two most important characteristics of great business leader; one is determination and second is not intelligence, which is the most overrated virtue, but humility." According to him, humility does not mean that they are not ambitious, they are fiercely ambitious, but they are humble and have respect for others. Till now, I have read many success stories of leaders who created some beautiful and amazing things for society. In most of these stories, writer emphasized on intelligence. It created a bias in my thinking. I started believing that for great success a person need to have great intelligence and great idea which cannot come to an ordinary person like me. I think same is the story of many people around me.

Second, he talked about the concept of making a living and making a life. According to him, we follow certain pattern in our life in order to make our living. For example- An education in engineering is process to make us employable. It is making a living. But the concept of making a life is something that we generally don't try or don't want to follow. Making a life means trying to do something that helps society to improve itself. For example - The great writers who wrote scriptures or mythologies such as Upanishad, Mahabharat, Odyssey, Elliud etc. gave us great books that are full of knowledge. People refers to these text till date. It is what is called making a life. But we need not to do such an extraordinary work to make a life. It can also be done in very simple ways. For example - Providing a platform from where a student can learn whatever he wants and implement his ideas in action will be very helpful for society. It is also an example of making a life.

These concepts we might know but do not think as important. But, when a person with credibility and proven track record explains these with examples, it becomes so easy to understand. It is fascinating to understand what I have misunderstood for long.

In the end, i think we need to come out of our negative cultural bias and start thinking in positive direction. It will not only help us understand things better but also enable our hidden potential to come out and do somethings good for ourselves as well as society.

Picasso of India

Our country has produced some extraordinary talent in almost every field from science to arts. They got their due in their life time. But some of them were very unfortunate. They did not get what they deserved. Even they lost what they earned from their parents and society as childhood gift.

MF Hussain, an extraordinary painter and a legend in true sense, died in London hospital. He was 95 years old and under self imposed exile. He accepted Qatar citizenship and had house in Dubai from 2006. From early days, he was interested in Indian mythologies Mahabharat and Ramayan. His true understanding are some masterpieces which shows his passion and interest in these mythologies.

I first came to know about him from controversial media coverage. His nude painting of Hindu Goddess made him infamous within few days. It become a national political issue. Each party tried to get something out of nothing. In matter of few days, some unsocial and disgusting people from radical Hindu outfits vandalized his house, chanted slogan against him, ridiculed him in almost all public places and humiliated him in his very own country and at his own doorsteps. Now some bizarre aspects , we should know about the incident.

1. Controversial painting was created in 1970s and had been shown in some art galleries.

2. He was given Padham Vibhushan in late 1970s.

3. It was made a political issue because he was a Muslim and he painted a Hindu goddess.

4. All political parties were silent observer. No one came forward to stop it.

5. Delhi High court ruled the case in favor of M F Hussain. Still he was afraid and unable to return his own country.

6. It shows how carelessly we live and how disgusting these radical outfits are.

Artist are individuals who think from heart not from mind. Geniuses always have some extreme ideals. Hussain Sahab proved himself in his field with some unique painting. He became well know contemporary painter of modern India. He was a genius. Some painting may have hurt some people's sentiments but he should have been forgiven. No true sensible person wants to create some absurd things that hurt many. I believe it was not a deliberate effort but it was an accident that happened and proved fatal.

A solute to legend of this holy motherland India.

Communication systems : Boon or Bane

Free Journalism is one of the four estates of our constitutional democracy. Recognizing need and power of free press, it was given a free hand to publish whatever is need of time. Communication systems play their role quietly that i think we should know. In last 10 years, after the proliferation of internet and development in communication systems, anything happening around the world can be known in few seconds. At least for me, it has been a great achievement in this millennium when there are widespread violence, terrorism, corruption and struggle for rights. There are few examples to see what were contribution of such a wonderful communication system in our lives in last decade.
Good things that happened -

1. Extensive coverage of terrorist activities show us at how vulnerable are we when it comes to deal with radical ideas.

2. Reports on corruption created waves in Indian society after exposing real picture of some so called good leaders and civil workers.

3. Circulation of video clips and SMSs generated whole hearted support for people of middle east who are still fighting for their rights.

4. In support of individual rights, people used it to create change in society to accept homo sexuality in many parts of world.

Bad things that happened -

1. Such sophisticatedly communication systems have become assets for radical people to unleash havoc on peace minded and innocent people.

2. MMS, pics and other forms of communication not only created unaccepted materials that should not be accessible to minors but also had unaccelerated unwanted events that we saw everyday life such as murder, rapes etc.

3. Most useful tool for political parties to communicate their unreasonable and narrow minded ideas. They are using it to generate support for themselves and fooling innocent and uneducated people who constitute nearly 70% of India society.

It is list of of few events that happened and changed few things that lasted for many years. Now I have a question "Is it right to allow communication systems to disseminate news and other contents without any regulation?" .

If you look at any medium or instrument that has rules to control its usage, you will find there are some side effects also, even we use it with utmost care. So, I believe that systems are there for use in anyway people want to use and there are always some side effects even in most useful things. To reduce side effects, we have to create those values in ourselves.

I hope society will respond to create some value in its members that will restrict misuse.

Lokpal Bill - Good or Bad debate will never end

Lokpal bill has been modified many times in last 3-4 decades. Latest modifications to make it more powerful and useful in current scenario, Anna Hazare led from front and supporters came from all walk of life. Government agreed and passed a gazette for it. It looks we will achieve what were our demands.

There is debate going on whether it is really good. I was reading economic times and i found 3 people's view. I would like to bring it here.

First - Views of TT Ram Mohan Professor IIM A

Drafting any bill or any law is the work of parliament. We have elected the people who represent us . Now its their duty to make good law or amendment. Forcing government to take people from civil society is same as discrediting your own government.

Second - View of Independent writer

It is political system that governs us. Interfering in this by using agitation, hunger strike etc. will not earn us anything. We need to understand these political processes are back bone of our system. It is better to leave these things to work independently.

Third - View of IAS officer

The proposed Jan Lokpal bill will centralize the power in one person. Our system is designed in such a way so that people in authority cannot abuse it. In case the person heading this investigating agency will be corrupt, he will use it to destroy the people who are honest and working for good cause.

In my opinion, it looks like these 3 writers are more about its abuse not its use. In any society, changes comes from either strong leadership or civil society itself. No harm in using different means to get our demand. I feel social activists like Anna Hazare are those who are torch bearers for us in changing world.

I believe we will learn to fight for our rights. This rotten political system can be cleaned only by civil movement only.

Jai Hind

Food crisis : next super tsunami to be seen in India

Last time we saw a series of destructive natural disasters in our country and a huge loss of lives and property in 2004 when earth quakes and tsunami came face to face with us. Around 3.4 lakhs people of India were affected, some lost their near and dears, some lost property and some lost all they have. It has been the worst kind of disaster I read in newspapers and saw in television programs. It became a scary and dreaded memory and always continue circling in my mind time to time.

Few days back I was reading newspaper and saw a report on Food crisis. Author of report was retired IAS officer and had been many important positions though out his career. In report, it was clearly mentioned that we would experience a sort fall of 2% food production in 2011 due to drought and flood at global scale. In report there were few ways to improve food production and be least affected. Solutions were optimistic and encouraging, but few things were missing. Being from agriculture background I can easily figure it out what is missing and why it would be kind of impossible task for India to be least affected.

1. In UP, Bihar and West Bengal, nominal supply of electricity in villages, inadequate water supply from canals, highly level corruption at block levels and poorly educated farmers are most important factors.

2. Last time Kosi river flood ruined the life in Bihar. People lost everything whatever they have saved from many years. Flood can be expected this time also as we have seen changing pattern in rain in north India and slow effect of global warming.

3. Production of food grains such as wheat, rice and vegetables is declining. Crops are taking more water and fertilizers. And our market price of grains in local market is still very low. Return on Investment is very low in case of grain production. Farmers are discouraged and we will see further decline in food production in coming years as well.

4. Problems with food grain production has inspired people to look for other crops. Now farmers are looking for commercial crops. It is slow but will affect in long term.

5. In each village we can find poor families which have one child working in city in any kind of job and leading a good time compare to others who have been rich from many generations in same village. It has created a fondness for education and a job in city. Young generation is heading to cities for job and education. No one wants to go back and utilize his knowledge for agriculture. So villages do not have skilled people who can change their agriculture practices. Now our villagers which has been pillars for centuries are about to lose their status.

These facts are only indicators what would be our future in food production. In our past we have seen famines that wiped whole area. Before independence, we always cursed British for their poor management and our callousness for not being courageous enough to get independence and own government. After Independence, our government created took good steps and we got self reliance on food. After 63 years we again to see food crisis and are forced to see famine. Government should remember Bengal famine when people were dieing and we were helpless to save them. Those who died were poor wage earners not the highly placed officials or the rich. We are a nation of 1.2 billion population with diverse economic status. About 72.2% of population is in rural area. Any famine will force them to go in cities and our inadequate current infrastructure will not sustain massive shift of people from villages to cities. Crisis will take horrible shape and we will loss what we have gained since independence in one go.

I am still optimistic that we will find some solution as we have some inherent qualities to come out of difficult situation again and again.

Am I only one in dilemma, but I have hope?

I don't remember last time when I saw sun rising. I don't remember the time when i went to see my fields and growing crops. It has not been long time since i did my engineering and joined corporate India to become an educated, ambitious and money making machine. It is just few days short of 2.5 years of corporate career. This is not a very long time to understand each and every bit of corporate culture and its intentions and hidden agendas. Some how i managed to learn a bit of it. I learned what had come to my way, so I satisfied with 'my progress'. This is not only happening to me but also all my friends in this sector. Everyone has same story to tell.

I was thinking about the life i had in past few years and future path should I take. I am damn confused. There are many options with their merits and demerits. I know successful guys in all options. Sometimes I think for MBA, few moments later I think of IAS or business and after another few minutes later just chill and work in IT sector. Is it story of every guy in IT sector or I am the only one ?

I have strong faith in my abilities that whenever I will zero my goal I will achieve it. This is only driving force behind and keep me in fighting for my bread and butter. Every morning I hope I will get right answer today. Who knows what is hidden in my future.

Politics of Survival

Politics, the most hated word right now in educated circle, has been creating new waves in the sea of democratic countries. Largest democratic country India is now at a juncture to see next series of modern political decisions and their effects. At present most important internal problems of this country are Naxalites and Kashmir Violence and political instability.

Common Features of Problems -

1. These problems are in least developed states of country. Ex. Kashmir ,Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar.

2. States blame centre and centre blames states.

3. More than thousand people are killed everyday but never ever any political leader was killed.

4. Extremist and naxalites are fight for their fundamental rights. Still states and centre are unable to get the real problem.

5. Loss of human life, property, development opportunities and democratic rights are prevalent reasons given by media to sort is out as soon as possible. But our democratic political systems still don't understand need of this.

Solutions and their possible effects -

Kashmir regional political parties and extremist are asking for its sovereignty and removal of special laws regarding military and security.
In case centre government accepts the proposal and let the state do whatever they want, there will be major problem of terrorist infiltration from Pakistan Border. No state police in India is capable of dealing with it. So, India cannot take chance. Second important problem will be sense of victory in extremist faction. In long term, this will pump up other extremist groups and people looking for peace get demoralised.

In case centre rejects all proposals. Loss of life, property will continue and GDP growth of more that 8 percent cannot be sustainable and our dream of developed nation will remain a dream.

Best solution can be a middle path where all concerned parties come on a single platform and decide future of Kashmir and Country. It should be moderate and no extremism view should be accepted in any circumstances.

Naxalites should get equal opportunities in all aspects of life as other Indian get.
Armed conflict with police and security personnels will unleash disaster only. All naxal areas have very poor development. Politicians from that areas are the most corrupt individuals . Centre should invite Naxalites for mutual solution. This is only step that can give us total eradication of naxalism. If we will let them as they are, we will continue to see violence and whole country can be engulfed in it one day.

Today, need of our democratic political system is to see big picture. It is in dire need to save its status and meaning. I hope people will show their results in favour of what is correct in near future.

Most awaited High Court Verdict of our times

Yes, I am talking about the most awaited Ayodhya- Babari masjid verdict by 3 member Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court. People are aware about the case history. It has been 20 years since the demolition of Babari Masjid by Kar Sevaks. Our judicial system finally is about the deliver most complex decision on subject of religion, faith and historical importance in
modern society. Let me tell you some unusual aspects of this case.

Historical Points -

1. Babari masjid and Ram Mandir case is very old. First case was filed by a Mahant in 1885 in Fiazabad district court. There were 4 cased filled but one case was withdrawn in 1990. Effectively there are 3 case filled on this issue.

2. Archaeological evidences and historical and ancient writings are considered as vital proofs by both parties. Some historians still unsure of whether Babar demolished mandir and constructed Masjid.

Political Points -

1. BJP used this issue for vote in all elections till last Parliament Elections. Samajbad Party used same weapon to get votes from muslim community and it is still working on same.

2. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, Rashtriya Swayamshevak Sangh (RSS) and other organisation from UP are on side of Mandir and Other side there are all small and big organisation of muslim community. They were fighting for masjid-mandir issue to get fund so that many of useless creatures can get free money in the name of God or Prophet at their disposal.

Social points -

1. Demolition has been seen as attack on Muslim community from Hindu community. It has hurt sentiments of people from both community. We lost social bonding and brotherhood that has been there since Musilms came to India.

2. Division of society has never been this hard and fast. It had created a environment when people knowing all aspects of case lost their cool and were carried away with emotions. This emotional high attitude helped Religious organization to carry out whatever and whenever they wanted.

Present Prevailing Attitude -

1. All religious organisations are not only ready to accept court decision, but also ready to move in Supreme Court.

2. Anti-social elements are fully prepared to carry out another violent drama. Society has seen so much of violence is last 2 decades, that it has become a routine in our daily life.

3. A very small percentage of people are asking different judgement other than Mandir or Masjid. They want to make a Hospital, Park, National Museum etc.

Now questions are "What is demand of society ? peace or violence" . "Is it really prepared to take matured step after verdict? "

Whatever is decision, we are about to see some unwanted effects of our peace loving society. Our lives are test once again. lets hope for best to come in comings days.

Personal Miseries of Black Gandhi and Brown Gandhi

"Everything comes with a cost." ........... I have thought that i have to pay a price in some form or other whenever i achieve something. It is applied to me or few more individuals. Certainly it is not true. I was reading about Black Gandhi [Nelson Mandela] and Brown Gandhi [Mahatma Gandhi]. I found some interesting things about them. Let me share it with you.

Black Gandhi -

Nelson Mandela has been married three times. First marriage lasted for 13 years. He fathered 4 children. One son died at the age of 25 when he was in jail. He was not allowed to attend his funeral. Second son died of the disease for which he worked hard and started many initiatives. AIDS was the cause of death of his second son in 2005. First daughter at age of nine months. Second marriage lasted 34 years. His father-in-law was agriculture minister when he was in jail. It was political difference that marred his second marriage. He divorced his second wife in mid of political controversies in 1996. He has two daughters with his second wife. Her daughters had vivid memories of his father in their teenage. They got married when his father languished in jail. After 27 years in jail, he was freed. He married third time with a widow of former ANC chief. It was a political move.

All in all, he lost all his youth time in jail, suffered many personal miseries for his country. He is known as Black Gandhi. It was price he paid this much at his personal front to get this title.

Brown Gandhi -

Mahatma Gandhi at age of 13 married Kashturba of age 14 years. He was father of son who lived few days. He had four sons Harilal, Manilal, Ramdas and Devdas. His experiments of truth, Brahmcharya, non violence and ascetism made him such a terrible father that his wife once said "You want my sons to be holy men before they are men ! " Harilal converted himself a muslim. He became embezzler, alcoholic , destitute and public shame for his father. He appeared on funeral of Gandhi in such a terrible state that only few recognized him. Manilal was sent to South Africa. It was Gandhi's decision and became a curse for him. Ramdas unwillingly followed his father and participated every movement Gandhi started. He never adjusted his father's idealistic poverty. Devdas got some sense of closeness from his father. Over all of his sons got a life that was not their. It was result of some idealistic madness in the name of experiments. Gandhi openly expressed his experiments of sleeping with other young women. It caused a public uproar and many of his follower became rebellion. In the end, he was killed by a bullet of his own follower Nathu Ram Godse. Gandhi ji did his experiments to prove that is useful for us today. His principles made in most popular man of last century but he lost all his personal life to gain it.

People get achievement at lost of something. It may be personal, financial or social. If we want to get something outstanding, we have to put something at stake. It is real truth of life.

Snapshot from Hell [first job experience]

Yes, I am writing about the last 2 years of work life details. May be i am writing it because of my frustration or genuine interest to expose the things that happen in corporate world. It is not going to happen with everyone but some of us get these things in life. Lets starts discussion..

It is simple story of a typical Indian Engineers who have some dreams, a lot of energy, future plans, aspiration for handsome money from job but way behind from reality. Story starts from Final Year of College, I was training placement representative for 2 years. In college time, i collected data of past few years placement. I was fascinating to know your seniors, their employer and pay packages. Basically it gave me fair idea about the money what people get and what can be expected. "Do what you like" was the line many of them said to me. So i started my career with out of campus PPO. Even it was a lesser package but it was small company, so i thought i would be to part of hard working group and learn many thing as soon as possible.

Training Period. - It was really hectic training. A typical day schedule was 8am to 8pm in office. Learned a lot of stuffs C++ C Perl Data structures Verilog VHDL .

On Job - Joined a group dedicated to services of design. It was nice to see people who were very serious about work. I thought i was fortunate enough to join this company. First one month no one really interested to know what i was doing. Then i was assigned a project that was new to company and no one knew about it. It was frustrating time when you have to read a lot then came to know this was not required. Then came ALL INDIA MBA Festival CAT 2009, obviously I was taking it, even i was not prepared. It was just the way IT-BHU guys take exams. Before CAT exam some people got it that i was taking that. There was a exclusive meeting in which i had to face some scary faces without any relevant reason. It was just start.
In December, companies were facing recession. Company took the lead to take advantage of situation. Exclusive meeting with top administrator, and we all were given choice either take huge salary cut or they would fire 50% of fresher. We were bound to take salary cut. In many meeting there were many justification for salary cut, but those meeting and the explanation were all crap. Since ODC group was services, it was major hit. Few seniors were fired or forced to take leave.

1. BSM - He was senior guy with 3.5 years of work experience in company. His previous performance was good. He dedicated his 3.5 years of productive and learning life. And company fired him. He struggled to find a job in bad market but who cared. No One.

2. AS - She worked for 2 years and one good performers. Its was not good idea to retain her. So she was forced to take 1 year unpaid leave. Administration delivered the verdict.

3. MK - He worked with company for 2 year. He was doing decent job. People say he was nice guys and decent co-worker. He was fired just because he was not performing according to management.

I knew BSM, AS, MK personally. There were many other who suffered a lot. Salary cut from was 40%. A drastic cut at any scale.

In middle of crisis when companies were taking full advantage of situation. Company had more than enough reserve money according to MD himself. Still they were firing. So one thing was sure. Administration did not bother about loyalty, commitment and your past record.

Next one month, we were not ready to take any surprises or hard decision. But who could stop worst thing to come. It was review time. I was unfortunate to have meeting with HR and Team manager. I got worst review. Neither HR or Team manager was happy. They said "They expected a lot from you,but you are not able to deliver it. Still we believe in your potential. You can do great work." I thought it was over then. Sudden change in view and management happen again. Head HR called me and told that she had a bad news to share. She said, "Company had decided to relieve me from services. We would help you to find new job but you had to look for new job." I was shocked, bewildered. I said "Give me sometime to think about next action". She responded with angry face and tough tone " You have to sign the papers right now. We cannot give you time." Though i was polite but this turned my mind. I said,"Today is Friday. I will sign it only on Monday as it is Friday. I will think my option in mean time." I left the company early in evening. On Monday I met MD of company and decision changed just for few more days.

I was trying desperately.Market forces were at their best, so there were no op tions for fresher guys or 6 month work ex guy. Seniors, from college were trying their best to help me but nothing was really worked out. I was frustrated and depressed. I thought that I might not be prepared to work in private sector. I should try some other areas. Since bad time was on its peak, there was no opportunity. One senior came to help me. He gave reference to a start-up. CEO of company interviewed me and gave me offer on same day.I was first person to be hired. I was on cloud nine. I resigned from company. Company was ready to relieve me after 15 days.

Again unfortunate happened. On last day, my new employer called and said he cannot give me joining right now. I was unable to say anything logical. Just said "It is ok." Company retained me but it signed a agreement with new employer that he would not hire me for next one year.

After these events i was in very complicated situation. During these tough times, nobody from my family was aware of it. Actually there was nothing to tell them. Just think what i could have told them. So just kept quite.

Around two months i worked. Everything was fine, even with very low salary. There were reports from management that company was doing far better than they had expected. Revenue kept following. We were expecting good news but there were nothing for us. We decided to take this matter to Senior management. When we met them and told our point. They said,"We are in process to reverse salary cut, if you guys worried without reason." Everyone was happy to see this response. Everyone got their salary back. but i was victim again. Meeting was called. Manager and HR discussed my performance and same old stuff came out that i was not performing. They asked me to sign a letter that would be sent to my parents about my performance. I did that. I was put on another 3 months trail to show my performance. I started good work again.

Again It was ALL INDIA CAT Festival 2010. I was also preparing. There were friends in company who were taking it. My friends AA and AG were damn serious about CAT. AA got below average review. He told management that he would not be here for many years. He would like to go for MBA. SO management two options either work or leave if you had MBA ambition. Finally decided that he would stay. He took leave for 1 week and went home. AG took leave and did not come to office. Both of them went home to prepare for CAT, it was clear to everyone. They sent medical certificate of join-dish sickness in office. In mean time i had to go home because there was some emergency at home. Someone in my family was seriously ill.I applied for leave but they just said "NO". I went home one Friday and came back on Monday. When AA came back after one month. On first day after leave, MD sent him for medical check up to prove his illness. He was caught. He resigned and got another job immediately. AG came after few days, everyone asked about his health. No one questioned him. Even it was clear that both of them were preparing for CAT. There were no illness.

I was working hard. But nobody took it seriously. I kept asking about my faults in project before 1 -2 week of release but nobody took pain to tell me. They sorted out issues at release day, that work cannot be completed on the same day. So how could i had done all those if no one ready to help? Finally my performance was rated below average. Meeting was set up again. They finally concluded that there is mismatch in my performance and my goals with company goals. I said "I want one week to think about it and tell my decision after that". Came out of meeting, thought "what is wrong with me, why i am such a non-performer." There is something wrong. Within a minute i was determined to leave the company at any cost. I started looking for job and found within a month.

I resigned with in 15 days. I was free and planning to take revenge with the management. I had planned how to humiliate them. I told it to my colleagues, they were very senior to me and told me few real stories about them. Finally asked me to just leave organization without doing crap things because management would not change. They would never listen you against any manager HR or anybody senior to you. I decided not to do anything. Exit interview was only thing remaining. I said nasty thing about company management, work environment and behaviour of senior guys in tough times.

When i was about to leave company. I got another proof of use and throw policy.
NN- She was from IIT B.Tech. and worked in company for 4.5 years. It was appraisal time. In meeting she was told that her performance was not up to the mark. Management had decided that she should leave the company. Definitely it was shocking, but what she could do nothing. I was got to know that after 5 years of work experience, she would become Team lead and her package had to be in that range also. So company just threw her away.

Career with first company was over but what i got was corporate behaviour in tough time. 1 year and 8 months was hell for me. It ruined my faith in corporate professionalism.

There are few things to know about corporate life that i did not know.
1. Never believe in their sugarcoated talks. They are opportunists, they will exploit you whenever wherever possible.
2. Don't tell you person things to anyone in company. There is high probability that it would be used against you.
3. Don't be always polite, it will be considered as you low self confidence.
4. Look for better opportunity and move on. You should have a alternative option all the time.
5. Corporate use you potential because they are in business and its logical to only think about profit.

6. Just do what you really feel. Never be emotional fool.

7. Policy is use and throw.

You are free to write comments. Whatever you think just write, i would appreciate that at least someone can think over it.

Interviews - Time to show your potential ...Really ??????

I am writing a blog again after one year. Sounds odd ...ya its true. I am writing because in last three weeks i did nothing. It was complete waste of time. Anyways its time to write something relevant. ...Here is my post.
Interview - Scary thing for the freshers. Serious thing for people who have faced it one or two times. Not a big deal kind of thing for people who have faced many times. I am writing interview experience of few people who i know personally. Lets starts with my experience in last two months.

I have 1.5 years of work experience in semiconductor domain. I was looking for job in C++/ C coding or Verification engineer profile. In my college time i got PPO (Pre Placement Offer). So i never faced any interview. Last month i started applying, fortunately i got call from many companies.
First - Big semiconductor company looking for verification engineer - Telephonic round - Interviewer asked about basic concepts of clock domain crossing, simple verilog concepts. I was not able to answer. Result - Dinged. ..... Since i never faced any interview, so i was not in correct frame of mind. I neither read verilog nor revised digital basics well enough to answer any question.
Second - Big semiconductor company looking 1 year work ex in semiconductor - Face to face round - Manger was first person to start interview. Again same story was not able to answer many questions. Result - dinged.
I was in urgent need of job so i was trying to convince them that i am better person for the openings they have. But all my efforts were complete waste. When you say "I will learn anything that is needed for profile" . Interviewer thinks that you are an idiot. So never make this mistake.
Now after two ding, i was nervous, lost my cool attitude and thought to leave everything and go home for 1 or 2 months. Other option i have of new industry where my friend was doing great and challenging job. But I did neither of two. Next day i got call from another company. I thought that this was time to prove my abilities and knowledge i had acquired in college. I took 10 days of time to prepare. Interview was scheduled in 9 am morning. I reached there at correct time.
Third - Interviewer1, head of engineering, started asking normal question about my profile and work. He started asking question on Digital design. I explained every question in detail. He asked question on Verilog and VHDL coding, i answered. Next topic was data structures, Asked many question on linked list and all of them were new to me. I used some logic and answered them correctly. He was impressed.
Interviewer2 , senior coder, asked questions on C and DS. Again same story answered all of them but took more time.
Interviewer3 - consulting staff, (more than 5 years of work ex) - Asked question on DS and C++ basics. Answered them all but without confidence. He asked few puzzles and i knew these puzzles in advance so answered.
Interviewer4 - Senior digital design - He came with list of questions. Answered all question.
Interviewer5 - MD of company - Asked two puzzles. Answered them.

I received call from MD that he was impressed with my interview and almost ready to offer but i had to meet few guys next day. I asked my senior about this. I got to know that it was again an interview.
Interviewer6 - Manager - Asked questions on Flip Flops and asked me to write verilog code for a module. I did it correctly.
Interviewer7 - Senior engineer - Asked many question on digital. answered them.
Interviewer8 - Head product validation team - Asked about state machines and clock gating, power optimization and all. Answered almost every question with some hints provided by interviewer.

At this moment i was done with interview. I got an offer next day. In this interview i thought i cannot make it as it was an EDA company and they had requirement of a person who know C/C++ DS and digital electronics very well. I thought i should try, anything can happen. In 10 days, i revised my basics of digital Verilog VHDL C C++ and Data structures. Thanks to "GOOGLE" .

After this interview and offer i got my confidence. I cleared two other companies' interview. I am joining new company in few days.

Opinion about interview -
My personal opinion - Interview is just test of your temperament. Before interview try to revise things that are very basic in your field. USE GOOGLE to find questions and answers. Never request any employer to take you. It will hurt your self confidence. They need you more that you need them. Just show what are you that's all.

XYZ (my friend) - Interviews are not what they should be. In India, interviewer asks questions that are neither relevant to you past experience nor the work they will give you in company. They test your knowledge. Biggest problem is that they don't want person smarter than him and they don't want person to be low in knowledge. If you are know slightly less than him, you are in. Over all you should show that you know less than him. Never show you are bond or poor any that field. In US/UK things are other way around.

ABC (my friend) - Interviews are all craps. Never believe them until you get final offer in hand. Anything can happen. Many people get a job without be good at it and many other dinged by answering all question.
So luck is vital aspect of interview.

Finally, i learned something about interviews. It is - "Interviews are just a process. They should not be taken as thing that will make or break you. Just learn basics and try to apply them. You will get offer. Luck is definitely a vital aspect of selection but its not all. I believe that company needs employees than employees need them."

Innocent Mind vs Corporate Monster

"Difficult times come and go, but world has to adopt the new things and keep moving. It is the change that creates new and destroy old well established beliefs, institutions and societies in a single movement. As we are moving towards complex and virtual world( Internet and all), society is adopting new norms and trying to keep itself up to date. Change is inevitable."............. These preachy lines look very good and very inspiring and highly acclaimed among all of us. But just look at the sad part of it. Whenever change comes people get confused, completely out of control. They don't know how to react and how to keep themselves moving. Events, that had happened in last few months have shaked the world economy and left people speechless. Everyone is going through the traumatic phase and they are hoping to recovery sooner or later.
I would like to pin point the trauma of innocent minds (young graduates of 2007, 2008 and those who will graduate in 2009). Its been long time when most of Indians started a fresh look on corporate world. The people from villages and small towns saw corporate as most promising thing in their life. This mentality fuelled education growth in them and corporate salary fulfilled their dreams. But the things were not ever lasting. Now we saw slowdown, corporate scams frauds and all nonsenses in media. Lets look at the impacts of all this corporate world events one by one.
1. Salary - Corporate jobs are known for their handsome money in hand and high standard of living. Companies hired the guys on big salaries. But now they are implementing salary cut in a range of 20% to 60%. If we calculate the amount of money what they will get after it would not be sufficient to live a standard life and have some money in hand for future. How can these guys survive in current situation where prices are going up and up, guys at higher position don't have any idea. The situation becomes when salary is low and cut is high, then guy becomes crazy.
2. Job Security - "There is meeting in board room and something serious is going on." These words spread like fire in work places and everybody starts looking at others in search of answer. And the guy in a cubical, who is new to the place is silent. He does not know what will he do if he is fired. He has followed the newspapers and knew there is nothing outside, so anyone can read the pain, trauma, fear. When he is fired and there is no jobs in market, he starts cursing his vision and faith in corporate world.
3. Work Ex- Companies always look at your past work experience, when they hire anyone. You have to justify how you are relevent to them. Having worked for less than 2 years is not good enough to make a switch or get a suitable opportunity. "If you have just six months work ex, neither you are fresher nor a good work ex guy, so why to hire you, why not someone else. It is well cooked answer from HR of recruiting company." This answer is like a beamer by Brett Lee and situation is like you fall down unconscious on pitch. You have done work whatever you have been assigned but when they fire you, they never saw what you have done for them, how relevent you are. And after being jobless for few months, they again question where and how was your past work experience. Can you like to tell the truth? No never. You have to say something that is pleasing in nature but far from the truth.
4. Work Ethics - Companies never stop boasting of their work culture and ethical values. At first everyone listens very carefully in presentations and follows it in early days. He used to be very open and discuss the issues whatever is related to him or company or colleagues. Suddenly things change and he is culprit of being very open minded. Its scene when you have done nothing worng but there are ways when you will be proved wrong. Does this culture will improve quality and performance of employees? Do you be honest to your employer when you have been cheated once?
5. Social Prestige - Working in big company and getting handsome money is social prestige for every Indian. This has been primary driving force to work in private sector for everyone. But salary cut and firing have created a mental monster who is eating everyone's mind. People are advert to talk about jobs situation, they are looking how to run away from question of family members. Can we truly answer how we are feeling about salary cuts? Can we tell truth to relatives and boast of high standard of living ? Can we help them in crisis ?
6. Future Plans - Working in this situation can we thing of new dreams to pursue? Can anyone tell what to do ? What we do MBA or MS or just stick to job now?All of us have planned and want to be there as soon as possible, but are helpless . Its only truth.
7. Family Aspiration - "Good job then beautiful wife/husband" is mantra for all young Indians and their families. Current market scenario is such when no one knows the answer. Can you fulfill this when you have a sword hanging on you head? I don't think so.

These things are not new, it was and will last till corporate world will exist. But we have to deal with in. Nor you can blam corporate world nor your self for this pathetic situation. Things are happening because they are inevitable. It is now to think and learn a lesson for future.

I may be or may not be correct to describe the things but there is something similar to this. You will feel it sooner or later.

Poisoned by Pioneer : Shocking Reasons and consequences for India and Satyamites

Outsourcing super power saw it's pioneer to become the most notorious man of IT industry in recent times when B. Ramalinga Raju admitted the fraud in accounts on 6th January 2009.Government dismantled the board and formed new board consisting of Deepak Parikh, C Achuthan and Kiran Karnik, Tarun Das, Suryakant Balakrishanan and T N Manoharan. From that day started the journey of investigations by different governmental agencies CID, SIFO, SEBI etc. Corporate world was shocked and normal people who have heard Satyam went in dull mood as its was the craziest think they have ever thought about this kind of action by any leader of charismatic nature like Mr. Raju. To this date we saw some positive steps in heeling of this shock of shareholders by Government of India. There are many things twisted and undercovered that led the demise of fourth largest IT company in India. This amazing story can be uncovered in following steps.....
   1. "Little India" To "Satyam" -- Staffed by 10 pioneer engineers, Raju rented a house across the street from Development Center of Deere and Company and named it "Little India". The team was connected to the Deere and Company through 64kbps satellite link and worked only at nights to simulate the way offshore engineer works. They performed better than their client and got the contract of 1 million dolor to work from India in 1992. From this contract they never looked back and succeeded to establish the fourth largest IT company of India. The company boasted to have 185 companies as their clients from Fortune 500, working in 66 countries with 53000 employees. Figures says what a company it is.
   2. On 6 January 2009 , chairman of Satyam Mr. Raju revealed the fraud which was going on from several years. He wrote a letter to Board of Directors and gave the details about balance sheet. In letter he pointed out the facts-
--Inflated cash and bank balances of 5040 crores as against 5361 crores reflected in books.
--An accrued interest of 376 crores which in non-existent.
--An understated liabilities of 1230 crores on the account of funds which was arranged by Raju.
--An over stated debtor position of 490 crores as against 2651 crores reflected in books.
--For September Q2, reported revenue of 2700 crore and operating margin of 649 crore (24% of revenue) against actual revenue of 2112 crore and operating margin of 61 crore (3% of revenue).
In all there was a fudge of 7106 crore which is largest in Indian history. He took the responsibility of fraud and showed the courage to face consequences, With this news in market shares market tumbled and Satyam shares were at lowest level to 6 rupees in its history.
   3. Government took the responsibility and board was dismantled immediately. Agencies related to corporate started investigation with in few days. New board took the charge to lead the company in safer jone. All the papers from the company sealed and many other documents in banks was ordered to be sieged. NASSCOM said it should be treated as an isolated case. Prime minister said its a blot on corporate India.

This is a summary what happened in last few days. Now time to see the possible reasons why it happened. What forced Raju to do it, what can be possible future of company, how IT companies will come over it. First see the reasons --
   1. Satyam was primarily a family owned company. Mr. Raju was parochial in nature, He was unable to compete with other emerging IT companies. After 2001 It world was completely changed, there was many new players and they were offering excellent services and attractive prices and quality products. US and European companies saw it. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro changed their strategy and competing with the rest. But Raju was not ready to change.
   2. Other IT majors were operating on 50% margin and expanding the business in new countries and creating wealth for their shareholders keep them focused for adopting changes in no time. It created pressure on Satyam to expand. in mean time Satyam was struggling to maintain old clients. So they lowered fees for services. When other major companies were charging $27 or $28, Satyam was working on $21 per hour.
   3. Mr. Raju had many other business interest. One of them was construction companies. He took the benefit of state government and created the infrastructure for new center for companies coming to India. One example was Microsoft's Hyderabad Center. And his family owned companies Maytas Infrastructure and Maytas Properties have $1.6 billion projects from state government.
   4. Board of Directors are key of any company's ethical value. And rules are laid down to protect the interest of shareholders. Satyam Board was full of very famous personalities. Prof. Krishna Palepu of Corporate Governance in Harvad University, Prof. M. Rammohan Rao of ISB, Prof. V. S. Raju of IIT D, Vinod Dham 'Father of Pentium' , T R Prasad , renowned IAS officer who had worked in many position of Andhra Government and Indian Government. With these people Mr. Raju was able to perform his task. It means there was a formality of board of directors. They did not showed genuine work for which they were appointed. They were not able to show the way to Satyam in globalisation. They were not able to question the deal of acquisition of Maytas Infra. and Maytas Properties. In meeting they were working as puppet. In every sense it was very clear that there would not be any fruitful result from this deal. Even they did not oppose. In era of changing strategy and high work quality and high client satisfaction, what these people were doing. They could have done their responsibilities, but they did not. It smells a helping hand of board of directors in scam too.
   5. Auditors PwC was working with Satyam from last 6-8 years and they never pointed out this detail to either the government authorities or the board of directors. In a statement they said that they were working under non-disclosure agreement, so it was not feasible. As per government rule it there is any discrepancy in accounts, auditors should report it to government authorities. So its clear auditors they also gave a helping hand.
   6. Raju family's greed to gain as much money as they could, may be another motivation behind it. Raju has denied any kind of work for his personal benefit. They sold over 43 million shares (43,872,919 to be precise) of the company and made a cool Rs 1,070.39 crore between June 30, 2001 and September 30, 2008.They were inflating profits and company valuation which was increasing the share prices and by selling it family was money. So, looking at facts it shows, it was their personal benefit that played role.

   Effects and Hopes-
   1. IT had been our leading sector of economic growth which created an Indian Corporate Image. Corporate image is tarnished by disclosure of fraud in no time. Corporate image was created by companies hard work and quality products and services they were offering to their clients at very low rate. This was admitted by the Prime Minister, NASSCOM, CII and every notable figure of corporate world. For the time being its very hard to get a project from US and Europe for new companies. Its very hard time entrepreneurs of IT. Can we recover from it? Yes we can, but it will take time.
   2. Share value is decreased by more than 95%. Shareholders lost their money and this created panic in investors. Now company is worth near about $400 million which is lowest valuation for Satyam in recent times. There is hope it will recover and will be booming again as the new board it not in mood for bail out, government has directed them do best in favor of shareholder. So, we can expect some good action which will increase share value. Time is to wait and watch.
   3. There are 53000 people working for this giant. Their future is in limbo. As company is running on shortage of liquidity. Its difficult to maintain calm and morale when they don't know whether they will get the payment for next months or not. They never no what is in tomorrow's lap. In mean time Satyam employees showed their unity and integrity by posters banners and slogans. Board has started talks with banks for cash to meet out employees salary. But there is big blow to newly hires people who are not given appointment. Satyam had recruited around 4000 from Andra Pradesh only and there are many more from other parts of country. They must have lost their hopes of joining date and they have lost something really valuable as they are at their starting point.
   4. There are many clients who will consider it as not forgettable offense and they will try to divert their work from Satyam or from India. Satyam has many clients from Fortune 500 list and they are of high worth for it. It would be difficult if they will go away. But its very complex process to hire new company for outsourcing work. It takes a lot of money and time to reach a standard in products and services.Legal procedure is another headache which consume a lot of time. So there are every chance big companies will not move here.
   5. Satyam was on low work ethics in past as it was evident by prior wok culture. It was reported in past irregularity in their employment agreement. A non-disclosure of work to outsiders and non-personal use or reward for company product was not mentioned. London based online and mobile specialist Upaid systems filed a case against Satyam in last year for misinterpretation of facts and allowed the use of IP by Satyam employees. So it is possible people are using it in their favor when they changed jobs . But it was in early days. In present time people will use as instrument to take take work away from Satyam. So migration of clients may be there.
   6. Foreign Institutional Investors will restrict their money in future. They will consider Indian territory as unreliable jone. New companies will not get their required projects from their clients. But it will not happen, there are some supporting facts. Nowhere in world is safe where corporate frauds can be avoided. Even major scams are from US itself. The Enron, WorldCom and Madoff debacles have shown how vulnerable US is in corporate fraud. Gemany has witness a series of scandals and even Asia's cleanest place South Korea has murky corporate behavior in past. Its not safe anywhere. There will be a hiatus in investment temprorily, as time passes it everything will be better.

Investigation Results -
At present agencies had confirmed that there was only 40000 employees as against 53000 quoted. So Raju has diverted 20 crores rupees every month and made 1020 crores in past for himself.

Now we are looking for many new amazing facts which will astonish us after investigation. Its just started.

Origin of Terrorism : Reasons less known less advertised

Hey Almighty give us peace, prosperity, happiness.... is a wish of all innocent civilians of world in new year 2009. Our world survived and suffered from the tragic events of 2008. Events unfolded in such a fast manner that made us a mock spectator whether it was financial market crash or Mumbai terrorist attack or recession...etc. Looking back to 2008 , Mumbai terrorist attack was a disaster for all, especially India. No one ever imagined to happen and it gave us some point to think about national security. After a lot of denial Pakistan finally accepted that Kasab is Pakistani, but price was paid by their Pakistan's National Security Advisor Mahmud Ali Durrani.
Everyone can find the details about the heinous acts and a lot of discussion on them what we cannot easily fine is the real cause.Lets think about reasons why terrorism is becoming a day to day activity, why its expansion is at high pace, why it is centered in Pakistan. There are many sources that give hint about the origin of terrorism and its expansion in current situation. We can identify the facts in support of it. These are Education, Poverty,Propaganda of Islamic Jihad, Governance, International Policies.
First is education. Education is vital for any change in mindset of human being. Pakistan has low literacy rate of 54% as per world bank report. But that fact is it does not show us reality. Literacy rates vary from place to place. For areas near to Afghanistan border its about 17% and the place is called FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas ) and also centre of terrorism. These are Pashtun People and have there own belief for education. Literates don't have knowledge of modern education and practices. They have only the knowledge of Urdu or Farsi. Maliks are the people who are major part of literates. Male literacy is less that 25% and Female literacy is less that 5% in all border areas of pakistan. Islamic fundamentalist and leader utilise their weakness to inspire them for Jihad and develop a sense of abhorrence against people of other races.
Second important factor is poverty. The border areas are hilly places and don't have good sources of income. These areas are also unexplored for minerals. There can be major sources for mineral and can be source of development as many people think. Neither government is interested nor the people of FATA. Terrorist organisations take this fact in mind and offer these guys money and they are ready to do anything for them. A win-win situation for both.
Thirdly Propaganda of Islamic Jihad. Jihad is what they can call sacrifice in the name of GOD and religion. The fact says that there are many leader and fundamentalist who openly challenge the Pakistan government and the world community that they are doing a holy work, they are unstoppable. These words spread like a deadly virus and innocent people come in support of them without knowing their motives. List of trusts, terrorist organisation and their leaders can be found on website http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/countries/pakistan/terroristoutfits/group_list.htm
Fourth factor Governance, Pakistan has been in military rule many times since its inception on world map. The democratic government cannot run smoothly when they are dependent on fundamentalist and their allies. Border areas are out of control, FATA is under its own rule. Its a bizarre facts that these areas have sovereignty. There is only one law under which Pakistan can take a person from there. The draconian law known as Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) framed by the British in 1901 to keep the people of Tribal Areas under suppression is still the law of the Tribal Areas. A group of elite people decide how to govern this area. Its a prime location for proliferation of terrorist organisations.
Fifth point, International policies. US, Russia, China and Arab countries played vital role proliferation of terror activities. In past Russia dominated Afghanistan and people of Muslim world made cries and got support form US. They formed their groups and fought and took control over Afghanistan. Then Talibanisation movements of pakistan started and it ended with control over Afghanistan. And world witnessed the pathetic living environment of country as mute incapable human society. 9/11 changed situation and same US attacked it and still struggling to take full control over them. Russia and US was not enough, China came with low cost high power weapons and sold there. Fundamentalists became terrorist and weapons are spread like air. China's support of Pakistan made India's situation hell. Islamic countries are silent killers, they helped them with money. They always make huge cry whenever there is any attempt to fight against terror. Even UN is helpless. Kashmir Issue is favourite of US, its strategy is clear to engage India Pakistan and have a base in Asia. All high class weapons ( especially fighter plans) are in great demand in both countries and US is making money out of it in the name of power balance.
Russia for India and China for Pakistan are other major sources for weapons. These countries policies outcome is also responsible.

I don't know when we will be able to stop the growth of terrorism. As per current situation until US China Russia and Islamic countries correct their forgein policies, its impossible to stop them. World community has come in rescue of people from illiteracy and poverty. Pakistan has to take strict governance actions. Only then we can hope for eradication of terrorism.

Freeze, Freez ,Don't Move - NIA NIA ....

Finally Indian Parliament passed the most sought after bill NIA( Nation Investigation Agency) on 17 December 2008 by voice vote without much discussion. This kind of agency was in discussion from 2001 but politicians did not show much enthusiasm to pass it and creation of federal agency to counter terror. Latest terror strike in Mumbai aroused feeling of government failure, national security, outdated state police force, inadequate information exchange in investigating agencies( RAW, CBI, STF etc) in junta. At least every Indian thought for a moment.Apart from this what the made it feasible is sense of fear in corrupt politician because terrorists had changed their strategy from attacking on local people( AAM junta) to high class politically, financially important locations and persons. There was almost nill opposition in Lok Sabha when bill was introduced and passed with in a short period.NIA will investigate under Atomic Energy act, UAPA, Anti-Hijacking Act and the Weapons of Mass Destruction Act. It will act on information received from any legal source independently, state government permission is not need for any action. Fast track courts and detention period of accused at least 180 days are also important features of bill. Director general of police will head it.
Now people want to see NIA functioning as sovereign and integrated FBI unit of US. Real question is whether we will be able to create and maintain the standard in compare to world's leading federal agencies( FBI of US, Federal Security Services of Russian Federation, Shin Bet of Israel, Scotland Yard of UK). These agencies are well known for solving very intricate, sensitive cases in past and proved to be self-sufficient against anyone irrespective of state of person or group or institution.
Lets look at the facts that are crucial for analysis.
1. FBI has annual budget of $7 billion for 300 million people. Its means NIA budget should be around $28 billion. Currently Central government expends around $3 billion for the population of 1.2 billion.
Its a huge amount for India to add it in expenditure list.
2. FBI has access to updated IT infrastructure and advanced softwares in practise. Ability to fast reaction and information access around the world in very secure manner is most important strength. For India it can be headache but not impossible task. If government will ask Indian IT companies, every company will help and charge less amount. It will be golden deal for government as well as business community.
3. FBI has been working in a federal constitutional republic from its inception in 1908.FBI Director will report to US president and senate only. And political influence cannot be a cause of concern against any person or entity. In past it has been proved by agency so very very minute or nil chance is there. But head of NIA has to handle many problems. He will report to cabitnet and prime minister. In current scenario when there is a coalition government in centre and every party of allies is ready to push these rules and regulations for their corrupt politicians and their supporters. So its main challenge to government and success of NIA.
4. FBI has more than 30 thousands employees and five different parts for smooth and fast working. Currently Central government has 5 lakhs police personnel in all different central agencies crime and security management. According to data there are only 14.7 police personnel(civil and armed both) per 10000 population. This number shows how much pressure is on police department. We can guess how many officers will be needed to run NIA to its potential.
5. FBI recruitment process is very rigorous and lengthy. Officers get hard training in a tough situations in simulated environment. In India only IPS officers get training of good standard. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy Hyderabad is carrying this duty. These officers are well trained for academic work not for the field work. They can be potential recruit for current situation but for future there has to be another institute which can give necessary training.
6. FBI has employed many professors and professionals as consultant. These guys provide another insight with all new technology and research. In India we don't have this kind of culture. NIA has to create this culture and for this a lot of government encouragement and support is needed.
7.Last but not the least, sense of responsibility in Indian people for their country is worst. People don't care what is going in their neighbourhood. Terrorist are taking shelter and people are not ready to inform the police so that terrorist don't harm them. In most of cases after the event they all killed. Communal violence, caste, religion, state mentality prone activities cannot be ignored, it has become a day to day activity.

There are many more reason that can be part of this list. But i feel its enough for the moment. NIA can be better future to act against terrorist activities. But it will be never be at par till people will feel responsibility. Now time has come when all should open their eyes and work for secure India. Hope NIA will become symbol of national security in near future.

Source of Information: -- NIA bill 2008, wikipedia.org, fbi.gov, timesofIndia.indiatimes.com, livemint.com etc.

Political Young Talents : Hope for CHANGE in 21st century

Largest and highly complex democracy in the world, INDIA is now on path of prosperity and growth. In last 6 decades we achieved many milestones. For example - Higher education institutes (IITs IIMs, IISC) , Public sector development houses (ISRO, DRDO, BARC, etc), IT Parks in Bangalore Hyderabad, Noida , Mumbai, Gurgaon, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Improved sports facilities, health system, etc. But what we gained is just a meagre amount than what could have gained with proper planning, vision and implementation. Democracy' in last 60 years gave riots, corruption, pathetic law and order, unreformed public sectors and many more horrible thing in plethora to INDIA. We saw near to death economy in 1990/91. That has become an eye opener for Indian leaders. Economy picked the pace and is growing at a rate of 8% per year. If we see how we progressed from 1990-2008,we will see that young generation graved the opportunities whenever and wherever it grew. Now time has to take a look how will our leaders respond to new challenges and who can be torch bearers in this century.
Time has come for fresh talent to take control in their hands. The old orthodox politicians should go now. There are some good knowledgeable and talented old people in politics they can be sustained for the time being. This mixture of old and new will show path for changes to solve the problem of food, education, health, jobs, environment, justice, corruption, law and order etc. Currently we can see some young talent showing their qualities and their commitment for the development of society and system.
Here is our fab five Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Varun Gandhi, Sachin Pilot. Rahul Gandhi, born 1970, completed course on economics from Harvard University, worked as consultant and now in congress as youth leader. His political campaign in Uttar Pardesh has created a different environment which was never before. This young leader travelled extensively in UP and visited villages, schools, colleges. He took keen interest in listening to people's grievances and looked in society matters and changes. His talent can be easily seen in his way of communication and the perception and ideas. His stand on nuclear issue and education is well known. Omar Abdullah, born in 1970, MBA from Scotland. He was minister in Sri Atal Bihari led NDA government. He was also minister and then took over National Conference party as president and then as CM of Jammu and Kashmir. His period as minister in NDA regime gave him a look on national issues closely and his extensive travel also provided the broad view of world of 21st century politics. Jyotiraditya Scindia born in 1971, educated from Harvard and Stanford University. He has worked as investment banker in Merill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, then in UN Economic Development Cell. He is young leader and working hard for the development of his birth place and parliament seat Gwalior. He presented a blue print about some economical issue and a large part of parliament members were stunned and unable to understand the meaning. Though it was simple for educated people to understand well. And as predicted it was turned down. He as tasted success as banker so new the importance of our agriculture and education sector. Sachin Pilot born in 1977 , MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He has worked in Delhi Bureau BBC, General Motors . By virtue of his high education, he is now on the consultative committee of Civil Aviation and Home affairs. He is now working with many trusts and NGOs. Varun Gandhi born in 1980, did economics and law course from London School of Economics and masters from School of Oriental and African Studies in London. He is related to BJP and in past it was reported that he had turned down many important post in party and ticket of UP Seat. He has not proved his talent till now but we can take him as very fresh and ready to fire.

Now lets look why they can be successful and can take control in new government.
1. Highly Educated
2. Strong support of youth
3. Vision
4.Political family background ( a negative and positive both)
5. Part of National Level Party( Congress and BJP except Omar Abdullah who is from National Conference)
6. Effluent Family

Challenges
1.Old Orthodox Political mentality
2. Patience for society to show desired change
3. Support from Senior party members.
4.Implementation of Ideas in rural and neglected sector.

I think these guys are making new generation to think once again for fresh look at politics. They are showing that young people are the reformers and they can bring prosperity and growth what should have been achieved earlier. Indian is now not far behind the American or English or Europeans. They know very well what are our assets and how we can harness our skill to fight. Who knows about the future....i can only make a guess.

What's Next : Indian Cricket from C. K. Naidu to MS Dhoni

Now Indian are talking a lot, they have become crazy, not ready to listen anything against their lovable team and passion see them as next world champion in new millennium. People with confidence and some arrogance are looking to horizon as next destination. A lot more said and written in newspapers magazines around the world. Cricket pundits are busy with positive and negative thoughts to pen down as soon as possible. Indian Junta have firm belief and passion to see their heroes to be next "WORLD CHAMP". Let discuss its growth from first test to last match played in Chennai.
First test of Indian cricket history was against England and Indian captain was C. K. Naidu in 1932 and we lost it. From 1932 to 2008 we have seen 31 test captains. They all did something different to be successful and make a mark in their era. Currently MS Dhoni led Indian team made a history in chennai by winning a test where fourth inning chase was 387 runs and it was fourth highest successful chase in world cricket history. Lala Amarnath brought first win in test cricket in 1952/53 against rival Pakistan, when Indian Team won series of 5 tests by 2/1. After that we start getting some success stories bu these were rare one. There are some names like Vijay Hazare, Polly Umarigar, Gulabrai Chandra, Nari Contractor who brought very few test wins. This was era when we believed that we were only to play not to see results. There are important points to note for this time period (1932 to 1961)- Not a very good spirit to play for win, poor infrastructure, novice in cricket thinking, never got a good exposure of professional cricket.
Nawab of Pataudi Jr. came as youngest captain and made some remarkable changes in team things. During his captaincy India won 9 tests lost 19 tests and 12 tests drawn (out of 40 tests). Its was a remarkable change when Indian learned to play for at least a few win a series. He was young and his urge to take indina on next step was taken example for following captains Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar Kapil Dev. Till this point Indian Team was palying to mark his presence and take some win or draw and make lose margin less. It was era of some improved infrastructure and training facilities. Then Mohammad Azaruddin become 25th captain of test team. He showed important moves like to play for win not only for draw. He won 14 tests and lost 14 tests (total 47). It was moment of change but we were lagging to grave opportunities and many test were either drawn or lost in critical situation. We were lagging on metal front. After sorrow moments of match fixing Sachin Tendulkar captained the team for 4 wins and he resigned. It was very small period for Tendiya to lead Indian Team. He saw his duty as batsman first then as captain that's why he resigned.
Now Indian Cricket was in serious trouble , it was in critical phase and suffering for a good show of wins and enjoyment. Saurav Ganguly came for rescue and made a great era to remember and feel good about cricket history. He was crowned in 2000/01. From this year onwards he showed the zeal, passion , struggle of new kind for win any situation. It changed the mentality of team players . He started to promote young players and gave them necessary sufficient chance to prove themselves. He said that every players should be given at least 5 one day internationals to prove his ability and at least 2-3 tests. He promoted and stood with players who are well know stars of team today. We can very well count them like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan, Sehwag, Gambhir, Zaheer, Dhoni . He always supported his player in need . No one dared ever to show an eye to any player of team on the field or off the field. He fought for his players and gave them confidence, belief, unity and passion. His strategies paid off well in his captaincy and made a ground to look for best. He gained the status of most successful captain of with 21 test wins. His team won test on abroad and made some historic wins for indian and challenged Australia. Famous win of Culcutta Test will be forever.
After retirement of DADA and Anil Kumble, MS Dhoni was obvious choice as captain who has shown his ability in one dayers. Dhoni is different from Dada in many aspects like field setting , aggressive experiments and coolness. He gave due respect to DADA in his last test by providing his to be captain for last wicket against aussies. People will remember this respect and give respect to their peers. Currently Team India is well balanced and can be new world champion. There are some reasons to look why it is feasible. 1. A charismatic captain , 2. Well balanced Team, 3. Sufficient bench strength 4. Strong mentality 5. Urge to win at any cost ....... There are few things to take care also 1. Don't panic in critical moments 2. Never shake your belief 3. Believe everything is possible with unity.
We will be next world champion in tests and will last for many years. I also has this belief and dream for Team India.

One day Internationals are not away from similar growth, till now team has got 19 captains from Ajit Wadekar to MS Dhoni. Its growth was similar in many aspects but achieved some early success than test matches. Kapil Dev Team won the world cup by beating two time world champion and favourite West Indies in 1983. We also got success in many tournaments like Asia Cups , Sarjanha, Nairobai. But the real gain was in Saurav Ganguly's stint. He led the team from front and made Team played world cup final in 2003. His young cricket promotion paid off well. After that Rahul Dravid led and left the team and new era was born. MS Dhoni became captain and we are watching greats one day Matches.

Last but not the least T20 format has gained very rapid growth in popularity. And Indian Team won the first T20 world cup 2007 with young guns. People were stunned by the captaincy and performance of team with very less experience. And they proved that era has started when indian can be world champion.

There are many things to achieve for team and we all hope that Team make it happen in coming time.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sultan-ideaandreality.blogspot.com/2008/12/whats-next-indian-cricket-from-c-k.html' title='What's Next : Indian Cricket from C. There are students of IIM A who have made stories. You must have heard Eklavya School in Ahmedabad. It is very innovative school for young generation, totally different from other public and private schools. It was started by Sandip Handa who is very keen to bring change and established many business entities. Ankita and Venkat who rejected 7 figure salary and they started a school in Surat.
There is a story of Venkat (not the previous one) who is blessed by GOD so much that what ever he started became a notible thing. He always founded and showed the path of success to it, then moved on. He is real genious in all sense. He did fantastic and amazing things. His nick name was 'Fraud'. His foundation GiveIndia is enjoying donation from more than 50000 donors online and hundreds of crores donation for welfare work is collected and distibuted to NGOs and many foundation to help poors and needy.
Common things :
There few things similar in all stories. These guys are crazy, they devoted full heart to the things they started and made it history. All of them are from upper middle class family(except a very few ) and their wives were working and they had something different from their contemprories. They made money and now working for welfare of society. Their families supported in all ups and downs and they accept that they were never been able to give time to family.

Why to read?
Its not a story to read and forget but it is story to think how we can make an impact. How can some be great contributor to society, nation and for his own wealth. Its remarkable to note some points thats should be followed by every entrepreneur and few things not to do. One conclusion is In India IIMs are big brand name that open doors for interaction and helpful to get funds for projects. If you are one of those who want to do something different in business, ideally you should read it and add you DO'S and DONT'S list. You will also come to know about the benefits and losses you can make.

I really enjoyed it very much. I grade it as one of must read books for every students of India to know power of will and hard work and innovation can change your life and society.

Beyond The Blue mountain : Tata Story : Book Review

A moral booster story of struggle, vision, love, patriatism, passion and patience of JRD Tata. Story of man who saw aviation as future of national fortune in field of tavel, tourism and war & peace. A man of principles who guided the government and societies to take greater interest in social service and long term beneficial programs. A look on how one man army JRD Tata with low industrial education outperformed many industrialist and stretgiest.
The Book started with descrition about the family of JRD Tata and his ancestors. It gives an insight about culture and the values that were brought by the Persians in india and how indians responded with enthusiam. It presents another example of indian culture's unique quality of acceptance on morality. There is brief discription of Jamsetji Tata who was the ideal person for JRD and his contribution to Tata family thinking for nation and long term vision. Story moves on with information about Sir Dorab ji Tata and Ratan Tata and their hardship to save Tata industry for many years. Then comes the story of our industry captain JRD Tata.
JRD did not got higher education and accused his father for it. He was the second child of Ratan Tata who married a French girl. He was born with silver spoon in mouth and got a chance to travel many parts of world in early edge. This imparted a very broad sense and knowlege about different culture and soical values. ...... and many more insight about the early life events.
He was appointed as chairman of Tata industries in his ealy thirties and contnue to serve it till his late eighties. Then appointed Ratan Tata as his successor. When he took the charge of TATA it was 100 crore company and left it with 10000 crore company and presence in all sectors of business.

He was very fond of skying which brought him near to planes. He brought india's first aeroplane and started first air service from Karanchi to mumbai via ahmedabad. His struggle to make it an internationally recognised airline is beautifully described by author. Finally government nationalised the airline started by the JRD and appointed him as chairman of it. This airline is known as Air India now. He served the board for 40 year without pay.

His views towads politicians and his connections with them is described in very clear manner. Jawahar Lal Nehru,Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahdur Shastri, Ballabh Bhai Patel was the big names in his friendlist and Morarji Desai was his strongest opponent. There few interesteing debates and events that makes this political relation salty and make a clear perception how he had struggled for his shareholders.
At that time there was two names in indian industry TATA and BIRLA, a chapter is devoted on comparison and contribution to indian society. His contribution to indian society and government was described in details. There are many points that make him as a great leader visionary and social entrepreneure. I am giving some points as example. First scholarship for higher studies, estalishment of IISC, IITs, IIM C, institute for social study, TIFR, nuclear project. One amazing point that entire TATA family owns only 1.62% of the total TATA empire.

Its really a great book to know about the TATA family and its great contribution to Indian Society. One must read it not only to gain knowledge about the TATA but for the leadership vision and understanding the importance of social contribution and natioanl interest.

The world is Flat : Book Review

A concious honourable and complete effort by Mr. Friedman, to describe the changes that have changed our world and currently changing very rapidly. These activities take a lot of legal activites, huge paper work required to complete the transactions and the process consumes cosiderable amount of time. The transaction involves government directly or indirectly as an entity so that its legalistion can be completed.
Mafiya Raj, name is self describing. Everybody has feel of it in india whatever form it may be. Being very specific this is the all time winner in indian social and economic changes and real estate business comes first in its proliferation.
Lets start with the activity renting houses , land etc. . Indian economy growth has given first tier cities to be center of the development. There are many who owns big houses and the land. People for jobs and firms for business growth go there. The exponential increase in the population of cities made the good opportunity to the house and land owners. Rent started rising but the need for houses increased more rapidly. Land and hoouse owners decided to tap this economic opportunity, but the initial investment was the headache. The real estate developers and the firms saw the big money in it. They started taking possesion of as much as land, contracts of government and private companies , they could and developed. The opportunity was so rewarding that everybody tried to get the porfit, thne came the main player political leaders. Being chosen from people and these guys knew very well how to tackle the chance. They made their firms and incouraged the people with musle power or money power to start their firms. Today, almost every single politicain has its own real estate entity or have a very close association with one or many. Corruption became the oil for this big economical change, no one took the opposite root, they had a fear of being killed, robbed, insulted, or be harrasment of family members.
Second acitivity, sell and puschase, is the another opportunity for the Mafiya Raj to strech its legs. The leader incouraged the firms of their associton and to make forge paper and the sell it as soon as possible, take the posseion of the government land and land of poors and those who need money just paying them as little as possible. They tried everything what could be done at the moment, then sold at very high prices to the contractors and the needy people.
Third activity, government contracts (building roads , bridges , ponds etc), was the leaders easily target. Any government activity always goes to political leader, they can make it happen in the way they want. So they got the hold on almost 90 percent of the contracts and rest was distributed to their allies. They tapped every single contract. And government employees got their parts (in form of money),so they also were sleeping comfertably.
All these were happening and still going on, but no one has courage to stop them. Our legal system and our society are so week that people even don't think once on it.
